Photographer’s Note

Looking out from my window I see the roads and yard covered by new wet snow from the today's evening snowing. It will cool down more for at least one week. One can say that winter is back. This is spring, full of surprises.
Although most of us have already had enough of the long winter, I could not resist the temptation of showing you a photo from the late March morning almost exactly three years ago. Also then a late but short lasting cold wave hit us and we got new dry snow and sunny days. The next morning I went to ski to the woods very near our home. The trees were nicely covered by white powder. Bright sun and -5C, a perfect weather for skiing (and photographing!).

Hello Lasse,

A very nice winter's view with a very simple but very efficience composition. The elements arise very well in the white of the snow very well collcetd. I like too the harmony tree/snow.

What a view - winter again! Nevertheless a spectacular and beautiful sight. A scenery from the book of fairy tales. This old pine is a wonderful main character here.

Hi Lasse,
very nice indeed ! What a perfect day for skiing and photographing, as we see here. I like the natural colors and the pine tree to the left in the picture. Very aesthetically !

It certainly doesn't look like this winter. But with a good snowstorm and after that cold and sunny weather we still might get that. Winter weather at it's best. Lots of snow on trees and brilliant March sunshine.

winter is back?! at your place, too? Incredible!
I am quite fed up with long-long winter in Moscow... but looks like the situation is the same with you, too :)
Anyway, apart from being tired of the long cold winter, I must say that this is a very beautfil winter scene :) The shadows on the snow add a little dynamism. This landscape looks to fresh, so tranquil and a little majestic. I would love to walk along that narow path right into the beautiful wood :) ..... and take photos :)

Hej Lasse,
This certainly looks very nice, in spite of being at the wrong time of the year. The trees achieve a very special, delicate greenness when the branches are covered with fresh snow. This is similar to what I saw when opening the curtains of my bedroom window yesterday morning. Right now the sun is shining, it's quite windy and light snowflakes are whirling outside my windows. When will it ever end?

Really decorative snow! Nature is an artist. One feature of this photo which immediately impressed me is the sunshine!
Despite the cold and snow it's the sunshine which says the last word. Your composition is well built as ever. I like the old tree in the fg which stands out from the others and the fine texture of the fresh snow below. I think you chose the right proportions in dividing the photogram between ground and sky. And last but not least I like the atmosphere.

Hej Lasse,
I threw away my skis when we moved to the city center some 14 years ago, there is no winter anyway here on the west coast... But when I see a picture like this, I really feel a strong longing for a cross country ski tour again. The conditions look perfect here, just like they always did in my childhood in Värmland! I wish I could have joined you here!

to ski in this heaven has to be marvelous, especially when the days are so bright, even if cold. Here snow has disappeared, there is only on the mountains, and when there is the sun the temperature it's also pleasant because the spring starts and it's possible to see the first flowers on the lawns. I hope that the spring also begins soon in your city :-)

as already mentioned this scenery looks really fairytale like. Excellent management of the light, the shadows in FG are a very attractive element. The track leads very nicely into the depth of this beautiful forest. Outstanding photo work! TFS!
