Photographer’s Note

In the middle of May I walked along the seashore in Espoo. This beach is called Suinonsalmi beach according to the narrow strait with the same name. (In Swedish Svinösund). There were no swimmers or bunbathers yet, because it was still windy and only 15 °C, although sunny.
This small beach is one of the 13 public seashore swimming beaches in Espoo city. Close to the beach on the right in the map is the bridge over the Suinonsalmi strait leading to the Suvisaaristo islands ("Summer Islands"), a maritime district of Espoo. You can read more of Suvisaaristo here. From the photo one could believe it shows a lake rather than a seashore, but you see here a relatively shallow sea bay, which you can verify from the map view.

Espoo has 58 kilometres of shoreline and 95 lakes. There are 13 public swimming beaches on the seashore, and ten swimming beaches on lakeshores.

Such an inviting, protected beach with sunshine and shade. Walking these places in the solitude of off-season always provokes in me a wistful sadness, and this shot also does the same. Thanks, Judy

The trees and the plesant play of shade and light give a very good FG. This Fg give a very great prospect effect to the lake and the landscape. A nice image full of serenity.

And now again I see one of those lovely, pleasant, quiet landscapes of yours which is so relaxing and cheerful.

Although quite early in the season, this beach seems to have all the ingredients for the perfect summer day; some sand, some grass, trees to bring shadow and a long jetty. When summer attacks, this won´t be an empty beach, I´m sure!
