Photographer’s Note
I was surprised to see this statue of Russian Tsar Alexander II right in the middle of Helsinki, knowing that both countries were at war not so long ago. But he's considered as a good tsar by the Finns because Finland was part of Russia during his time, and he introduced reforms which increased Finland's autonomy. Anyway, he is more known for liberating the russian peasants from serfdorm and for being killed by a bomb in St Petersburg. Not a great deal of nice architecture in Helsinki, although I'm sure Finns will contest that!
