Mikontalolights was a project which aim was to create the world's physically largest colored graphics platform by using the windows of a student building under renovation as light pixels. The platform was used to play Tetris and other games and present demos created by the students of Tampere University of Technology. Technical implementation included LED lights in apartments, long streches of cabling and controlling software on a PC. Games were remotely played with a cellular phone. More info including video clips at Mikontalolights home page.

ISO 400 and widest aperture. Slightly cropped and perspective corrected 10 mm shot. Even with tripod it was necessary to keep exposure time short to catch fast changing lights.

Strange artwork with these colored windows, maybe a crop of the building works better but the image is still interesting because the strange play of colors and the funny idea of play Tetris with this enormous board, you have good eyes Kari, compliments.

What a concept! I never heard of such a thing. By keeping the shutter speed relatively fast you also avoided the issue of noise I think.

Very cool concept. Good shot on your part, catching these different coloured lights as well as the outside view. The students standing around (were they playing the game?) add a good element to this one as well. It also looks like you had some competition there, with another tripod. This lightshow must be popular. Nice work.

Edit Note: Hi Kari, I followed the link and now understand why all the people were there. Very cool.

Thanks, John

Terve Kari,
LOL funny idea and nice colors popping out of the darkness, I wonder if it manages to keep people watching in the cold finnish weather ?
Have a nice day JY

This is a first for me!!! Tetris on the front of a building. You realised a good colorful shot here. No noise at all.

Hi Kari,

very good idea, it works well, I just wonder which could be the result with a full frontal POV.

Well done!
