Tampere Cathedral (Tampereen Tuomiokirkko) was designed by Lars Sonck and built between 1902 and 1907. This picture is from centennial celebrations 100 years after inauguration 19th May, 1907.

Before celebrations the church went through extensive renovations that took slightly longer than expected. Some of the scaffoldings were still behind the trees on the right. Also some bricks seem to be missing from the top of the roof.

Terve Kari,
erhh, sunday already ???
The peope enjoying outdoors as well as the nice sky over which the reds are contrasting provide a good summer impression even though it was still may, and would you not mention it I'd not see the scaffoldings. I think you could sharpen a bit more, the size limit now upped to 300KB allows better sharpening of difficult images.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Kari! Very beautiful church. Interesting architecture. Good perspective. Very nice capture. Perfect composition. Original picture. Good luck!

Kari,
Your composition and POV are very good here using the tree to balance the steeple. The people give the shot a nice sense of scale. The lighting and colors are great but I think the photo could be sharper. I agree with JY on posting this in a larger size so that you can sharpen the image more.
TFS,
Asa

TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,

Hei Kari,
We both uploaded today a cathedral photo. :-) Good POV and framing, good natural colours. The architecture of the National Romantic style cathedral is beautiful. I have never visited the cathedral, which is a sin! One day I hope to do it and also see the frescoes of Hugo Simberg.

Hi Kari,
excellent idea to hide the scaffoldings behind the tree! The architecture of the cathedral is phantastic and I like your POV very much with the tower nearly reaching the sky. Great work!
Warm regards
Harriet

a heavenly designed church! Points to heights!

How thoughtful of someone to strategically place the tree to hide the scaffolding. ;D
It looks like a nice day for the celebrations and the numbers of people around the church make this a church shot with a difference. The vertical format was the perfct choice.

Hi Kari,
Lovely vertical presentation of this fine old stone church with its lovely traditional red roof that stands out beautifully against the vivid blue sky.
Clear crisp colors and fine sharp details to this fine image.
Regards, Tom
