I was a week as a volunteer as a lighthouse guard on Märekt around a year ago. As I have had quite a pause here on TrekEarth I figured I should start with what has photograhically made the strongest impression on me the last year.

The Märket lighthouse is situated on a reef about 20km from the Aland mainland. The reef is about 200m x 100m in size, highest point about 2m above sealevel.

Dark exposure gives full attention to the lighthouse which glows on the first rays of sunshine. It could be cropped from the bottom though.
