Espoo has two notable rivers Espoonjoki and Mankinjoki and some minor ones, closer to brooks. However, these two rivers are minor rivers both in length and in water flow compared to many other rivers in Finland. Mankinjoki starts from a shallow lake Loojärvi and runs 6.7 km before it reaches sea. A few hundred meters downwards from the Espoonkartano bridge another smaller river Gumbölenjoki joins Mankinjoki.

Just after the bridge is the only real rapids in Mankinjoki river, which you see here. At this rapids point the river has pushed it to run in 3 different river beds. The one here is the main branch.

The railings of the bridge are seen in the background, but the bridge itself is hid between the trees still now, when they have leaves.

In WS is a B&W photo taken in January 2007, when we had more rain than snowing. The river was flooding and the water was rushing in all 3 branches down the rapids. The old bridge is seen in the background. You can find the same half moon shaped stone in both photos. :-)

Hej Lasse,
We happen to be neighbors today, quite a coincident! You have a very fine photo here, with vivid water and those autumnal colours. Are there any trouts in this brook? I like the water coming down here along all the stones!

Hallo Lasse!
What a beautiful scenery! I like the autumnal atmosphere and the impression of depth in this photo - caused by the well chosen point of view. A wonderful near to nature place ...
Greetings from very autumnal Germany with storm, rain and cold.

Hello Lasse,
very inviting scene; quiet area, soft rustling of tree leaves... perhaps, birds' singing... and the sound of the water flowing and flowing, endlessly and quietly... Very good composition, very lovely colours - a mixture of green and yellow. The place is filled with clear fresh air... :)
greetings from Moscow,
Elena

Lasse,
This is a nice autumn shot with the falling leaves littering the shot. The stream leads the eye into the shot nicely. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.

hej Lasse.
This is even better even if the fantastic bridge is just in distance, the comp is more solid and the water seems dancing between the trees on it's way to join other waters.

Hi Lasse,
It's a wonderful Autumn view. The POV is well chosen, just in front of the curve of the stream, it gives a great sense of depth. The light and colours are beautiful and very well managed.
Regards, José.

Hi Lasse,

Moment more serene than that presented in complementary photograph !!! Landscape that I like much because very releasing I find. Here the colors and the light are well managed. We miss nothing any more but the soft noise of water. Thank you Lasse.

With all my friendships and very good Sunday,

Jean-Charles

hello Lasse,
I know how difficult it is to photograph bright water under the shade of the trees, but you have handled the light very well, nothing is over- or underexposed, and the rich autumn colours are crisp and clear. the curving river created a good lead-in for the eye to follow into the photo, I quite like it. may be a ray of sun would add a sparkle to the scene, or a longer exposure that blurrs the water would create a more dreamy mood, but that's a matter of personal preference :)

best,
Kristine

Hi Lasse, nice autumn atmosphere from you again. Nice place and good shot.
