Photographer's Note

Visiting an old sailing pal living now in Bragny-sur-Saone, we made a cruise on the river Doubs. He gave up sailing in the Med and (freely translated from the german) "lives now like God in France" ;-) , still having a small boat cruising on the rivers Saone and Doubs.

A beautiful landscape, created [seems to me ;-)] for watersports; calm and slow cruising to enjoy the passing countryside. After few kilometers you will find always opportunities to moore the boat.

Places to relax and taste wine and food... well you will give up counting after a while!

Some companies offer boats to hire from 8 m up to 16 m; no license needed. Of course, they are no "speed boats! Be your own captain.

The network of canals allows you to cruise from the Antlantic to the Med, from East to West! But be careful, there are locks which need some time to pass. But making big distances is not the pure aim travelling this way!

To to cruise in style, go aboard barges, which were converted to river cruisers. Wining and dining at it's best, nothing to say about the cultural excursions!
