Ville de Huningue

We didn’t visit the tripoint of Switzerland, France and Germany for nothing, so of course I won’t only post photos from Basel. Close to the actual tripoint, which is located in the middle of the Rhine, there is a bridge between Germany and France, is an pedestrian bridge, called the Passerelle des Trois Pays in French (or Dreiländerbrücke in German, Three Country Bridge), which leads to the town of Huningue (Hüningen in German), which is basically a French suburb of Basel. It has got about 7,300 inhabitants.

This is a view of the main square in Huningue, Place Abbatucci, named after the French General Charles Abbatucci, who died in Huningue while trying to defend the town during an Austrian siege in 1796-7.
