Photographer's Note

Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer an interesting view of one of the streets of the Alsatian town of Riquewihr, France. I hope you like it, then some letters on the town.

Riquewihr in French, Reichenweier in Alsatian, is a locality and French commune located in the department of Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace region.

For its beauty and attraction it is one of the villages distinguished by the association "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France". Undoubtedly, Riquewihr is one of the most charming places of Alsace. It has little more than thousand inhabitants and is about 50 kilometers south of Strasbourg, between this city and Colmar, one of the towns of Alsace preserving places of remarkable beauty.
The city has a reputation as a producer of wines, especially Riesling, which is cultivated since ancient times in the countryside that extends around the place, still retains some of its medieval defense system. The experts say that the secret of the wine quality is its geographical location on the sunny side of the Vosges, sheltered from the cold west.
The town retains a special, simple charm. The urban complex taste remarkably preserved houses, some are of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Many of the buildings show an artistic decoration, but most are simple and have the charm of rural architecture, with its half-timbered and flowery windows.
The town has a local historical museum and a small hotel offer.
