Rainy Saint-Malo

Another autumn photo, taken on a cloudy, rainy, moody and outright inclement day in the French town of Saint-Malo, which I visited over a year ago after I had been to Mont-Saint-Michel. Had my visit to Mont-Saint-Michel been relatively dry, when I had reached Saint-Malo a steady drizzle was falling from the grey skies.

This is a view from the fortifications of the walled town of Saint-Malo (La Ville Intra-Muros), looking out over the waters of the English Channel. Some people were defying the rain and roaming the broad beaches, which form at low tide. A few hundred metres from the town, on a tidal island, the fortress Fort National is located, which was built in 1689 to protect Saint-Malo’s port.
