Bois is a small well maintained village with a population of around 550 in the département of Charente-Maritime close to the town of Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge.

The church of Saint Peter is a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic architectures, dating from the 12th and 15th centuries respectively. The nave is from the Roman period whilst the choir and transept are Gothic. The bell tower is relatively unusual, being square at the base and then becoming octagonal.

Today, a view of the Romanesque façade under a late summer sky. The picture is a vertical stitch of two photographs.

Hi Stephen
This is a very simpe idea based on the power and pattern. Excellent choice.Congrat..Geo

Hello Stephen,

Fabulous symmetrical presentation of theis Romanesque church. The semi-circular arches comprising the doorway are so characteristically Norma, but one of the best preserved I've seen. In the harsher climate of England, the Norman arches have not weathered quite as well, and certainly you do not see such vivid blue skies. I'm thinking of the Norman Church at Iffley, just on the road to Henley from Oxford. Perhaps you've seen it. The perspecitve, colors, definition are all first rate.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Bonjour Stephen

Bonne journée.

Hi Stephen,
The light on this one is worlds better than on your summer series, si we can enjoy this nice heritage architecture, the stitch looks good to me but somehow I have the feeling it tilts a bit to the right (from the cross), however looking at the buildings as a whole it seems straight.
Have a nice day,
jean-Yves

Bonjour Stephen,

Hi Stephen,
Wonderful capture of this small French village church. The fine grey stone work contrast nicely with the blue sky. The shapes of the stone work that required great skill are beautifully seen. The details and sharpness are excellent.
Regards, Tom
