Photographer’s Note

This is the tower of the Gare de Lyon in Paris taken from the Austerlitz bridge. Nice contrast between new and old buildings.
The grahic rendering of the picture was obtained by increasing the saturation up to 90%.

Built to replace the old landing stage of Lyon, the present building was built between 1895-1902 by the architect Marius Toudoire. Its construction was undertaken by the PLM (Paris-Lyon-Marseille) Company, and timed with the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in mind.

Recent modernization work allows the TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) to serve this station. Departures for southern France, the Alps, Switzerland, Italy and Greece are from here.

Bonjour Serge,
Bien joué pour la compo, la tour de la gare s'immisce pile poil entre les deux tours modernes. Le contraste est saisissant. Les couleurs des différents bâtiments est superbe.
La pixellisation importante donnée par la saturation poussée à 90% donne un aspect trop surréel pour moi mais c'est un parti pris intéressant au niveau de la recherche graphique.
Je poste un workshop pour comparer avec une version moins pixellisée.

Encore un angle bien original pour ce batiment, j'ai cru dans un premier temps à une construction ou à un "parc miniature" ou les éléments architecturaux se chevaucheraient!

Prise de vue originale et belle opposition entre ces styles architecturaux mais la saturation a été trop importante et donne un aspect de "grain" trop marqué...pour moi!

gives the photo an impressionistic touch.

Hi Serge, The juxstaposition of the old and the new is a good idea. The PPeffects you have added makes this rather like a painting. TFS. Murray.
