Still Les Roches Noires surf spot. Cool place for cool catz. I had feelings of my dear southern pacific coming back.
...And a special dedication for Nicoz.

73 views, 0 critiques. I guess we both miss our today's post... I like the composition very much and your idea for this one is really cool. You put ourselves in the spectator's skin. It lends a certain drama to the scene and that's good. In terms of photographic exposure there's something that bugs me here. The strange foreground bokeh is one of them. It's too diffuse, if you know what I mean. It's between a clear black silhouette and a slightly visible person. I would like to see his contours more defined and his body more dark... The sea and the pink sunset are also a bit strange in terms of colors. I never been in Saint-Gilles so I'll not stress that this seems a bit strange. I've seen hundreds of sunsets before to know that nature can present you the most amazing range of colors. What I am saying here is that the overall shot is too pastel for my taste. But it's not a bad shot at all. Can't simply understand why this absence of critics...

Hi Luko
lovely sunset colours in bg and good compo with this man looking at the other surfers. interesting that so few has critiqued it, because i think this is a very good pic - not your best, but better than many on te.
if i'm to criticize, i'd prefer to see a less dominant foreground, so that i can focus more on the interaction between this surfer and those in the bg, as well as the colorful details at the back which are wonderful.
Cheers

psa mal du tout cet avant plan qui nous plonge dans l'ambiance surf... moi ca me replonge dans les années 70... et les beach boys...;-) c'est quoi le point noir dans l'eau au dessus des surfers? une poussière ou un requin qui va les bouffer?

We have so many choices when confronted with a scene like this, DOF-wise, do we not. I went the other way in Burma, do you remember, the youn man on te ferry boat loking out at another boat in a heavy bokeh zone. You have decided to show the distant view (which i precisely what HE sees) - very effective, cinematic shot. Love it.

Yeah, I think I can imagine what might have gone through your senses while letting the frames of your South Pacific infancy go by under your eyes, one late afternoon by the sea, while the reasoning of your forties persist in anchoring you to Paris, the consulting stuff, the ping machine, and the usual hectic, frenetic and supra useless rythm of parisian daily life. Com'on...let it go..not much time left and definitely no possibility to ask for reimbursement when it'll all be over.

Bref, chouette

Hi Luko, this image breaks some rule i think..
The blured foreground at the first impact is a bit a strange...but after the eye is immediately on the sea scene...
A perfect "graphic" composition...with the tip of the table on the subjects..
Cool shot!

Very cool shot Luko, and one of the best surfing shots Ive seen. As we're so used of the stock standard sport photos in the papers, its always great to see a fresh look on a sport. Some nice gentle colours, which work well with the whole gentle beach vibe.
