Photographer’s Note

Cypresses form the ideal windbreak. This is one of the reasons why they have been planted all along the Brittany coast. Cypress Lambertiana are the most common there and are an integral part of the landscape. Here a lambertiana silhouette at sunset.

Hi Vincent,
Very nice placement of the lambertiana in the frame and very important that it is silhouetted I think. The distant sky is fabulous, the rays of the sun peeking through the heavily clouded sky fantastic!

Wonderful light here Vincent, and you've managed to photograph it well, capturing the light as it bursts through the clouds.
I like how you used the silhouetted tree in the foreground, although I think having the main part of the tree closer to the edge of the frame would have worked better.
Again it looks like you've sharpened the sky - stop it! There's quite a bit of scratchy pixelation, especially noticeable in the dark clouds at the top. If you avoid sharpening these areas of smooth tone you'll find that you get much smoother looking skies.
Despite these niggles your shot works well - most importantly of all you captured the atmosphere.

What a wonderful way to end the day. This is such a pleasing and serene image. I like the golden color of the sunset and the rays reaching down toward the sea. The silhouette adds dimension to the image. The composition is spot on with a good balance between sea and sky. Bravo, well done!

This is a real beauty with unusual and very appealing tones. Even though the horizon is almost central that doesn't matter as you have 3 horizontal layers including the dramatic clouds. The sunbeams are a wonderful feature of the image and the reflected colour is creating beautiful texture in the sea. Finally the cyprus tree so unique for a seascape. Simply beautiful.

The golden light here is alluring and romantic, with the stately cypress almost growing into the serene scene. Although partly silhouetted, the tree's distinctive shape and branches are well seen. The bursting rays and gleam on the water really enhance. Superb work...Demain.

A strange but beautiful cloud and light formations. I have never seen one like it before. The cypress is perfectly placed within the frame to break up the monotony of the sea. Very well done!

C'est peut-être lassant pour certains mais pas pour moi. J'aime la beauté de ce paysage au coucher du soleil surtout quand, à la beauté du ciel se joignent celle de la mer et la silhouette d'un bel arbre comme ce cyprès.

Je ne sais pas si le cypres était si neccessaire que ça, car en lui-même, ce coucher de soleil se suffit.
Il est canon, avec ces teintes or et bleu. Très graphiques, avec ces couches horizontales également.

a really integral part of the landscape! The PoV was excellent for this capture. The clouds let the light of the sun pass through them, so you had the opportunity to pause the moment. I like the tints of golden colour. Thank you for sharing.

Fantastique! Très, très belle! La compo est impeccable, avec la silhouette du cyprès bien placée, 'équilibrant' les rayons du soleil. La lumière est fabuleuse. C'est étrange comme le ciel ne semble pas nuageux au dessus du soleil et comme la mer est si calme.
