Today a partial view of the right bank of the town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

Villeneuve-sur-Lot is a commune, population around 24,000, of the Lot-et-Garonne département, in south-western France. It was formerly named Villeneuve-d'Agen. The town was founded in 1254 as a bastide by Alphonse, count of Poitiers, brother of Louis IX, on the site of the town of Gajac, which had been deserted during the Albigensian Crusade.

The red brick tower belongs to the church of Saint Catherine, which was built in the early part of the 20th century though not completed until 1937. It was built in Byzantine-Romanesque style, and offers an unusual north-south orientation for a Western Christian church. It replaced a much older 13th century church which was considered at the time to be to run-down and dilapidated.

Hello Stephen,

The big tower in background is almost the same as the Belfry in Bruges.
You chose a excellent angle exactly along the street wall, also the combination with the green trees in foreground together with houses and blue sky care for a nice composition.
Very well done, TFS.

Have a nice weekend,
John.

Hi Stephen

Well composed, using the rule of thirds, with excellent colour, lighting & sharpness. Good perspective at right, & striking warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

Bonjour Stephen
Un bon POV pour la photo de tous ces éléments architecturaux dont la couleur brique domine et surtout la tour de cette église.
Bonne journée
Amicalement
Gildas

Hello Stephen,
I loved the lighting and the sharpness in this beautiful image!
the exposure and focus is first class here!
thanks for the informative notes
well done
Tony

Bonjour Stephen,

Hi Stephen,
beautiful shot of the place, good point of view and nice natural colors,
well framed and composed!
Greetings,
Dimitris.

Bonjour Stephen,
La tour émergeante des toits du village donne envie d'en voir et savoir d'avantage. Son architecture semmble imposante. La lumière était forte, les détails sont très nets. Beau travail.
Bonne journée
Amicalement

I enjoy pictures like this as the buildings are so different from ours. Very interesting and I like the pov and colors. TFS and have a great day!

Bonjour Steph,
Pierre

Hi Stephen,

Nice architecture! The buildings seem to hang from the cliff. Good light and perspective to compose this image. The view along the bridge add depth and the colours make for a pleasant image. I do notice a couple of dust spots on the upper right sky though. Thanks :-)

Roberto

Hi Stephen,
Good POV with the balustrade to the right framing the motive with the central feature of the tower! Good note!
Greetings from Gothenburg
Gunnar

Hi Stephen,
Nice sharpness and colors in spite of the harsh light. The pale blue of the sky looks nice.
Best regards. Salvator.
