Hello Everyone,

Here is my second shot taken in the harbour at Paimpol, Brittany. There is always something so busy, purposeful and vital about harbours.

I particularly liked this tall masted ship which certainly dominated all the other boats in terms of size and mast height.

Its lovely colour co-ordinated it perfectly with the sky and the sea!

Although Paimpol used to be an important fishing port, it is mainly home to leisure crafts nowadays.

I have included an Internet link for anyone who would like to investigate Paimpol further. Please click here to access the link.

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello, Bev.

Looks like you and Peter (graffer) have had some fine photographic outings in Brittany!

This one is a stunner! Beautiful colours, well saturated (not too much, I think - I sometimes think I go a little "over the top" with saturation at times) and as sharp as a pin. I like the exposure and think it's spot-on - there's everything from the brightest whites to the darkest blacks and yet detail is well preserved in the darkest shadows and the lightest parts too.

And a fine interesting note to accompany it!

Oh, and good composition too!

Best Wishes,

John.

Hi Beverley,
This is a nice view of that beautifull harbour. A famous in Brittany for it's past and now for the old sailship and marine song festival (every 2 years), for example last year:
Sailship festival1
Sailship festival2.
This view is very nice with the old house in the bachground, the depth with the boat in foreground and the wonderfull colors (you was lucky with the sun because of the poor summer we had) ;-)
Well done.
Regards,
Olivier

Hello Beverley ,
A fine view of this nice sailing boat in Paimpol . You've got the chance to visit it on a perfect sunny day (it was not my own case , when I went there at the end of august) . I like a lot the framing , and the good contrast of colors : very nice yellow stones , with the blue of the boat .
Best regards
Denis

Hello Beverley

This proud masted ship is really impressive and the way you've presented it is well seen to give an idea of its height.
Your composition is very well thought, the pier ingeniously begins your framing and leads the eyes to the charming houses in the background.
The light is perfectly managed to bring the great deep blue out, and the sky is in perfect accord with the blue of the boat ;o)
Very nice picture, thanks for sharing such a luminous view of this pleasant harbour.

However, I'm not sure about your framing... The fact that it is wider on the right side disturb me a little. Just my opinion, of course.

Regards
Karine

Ciao Beverly,
A fine view of this nice sailing boat, i like the colors and the beautiful sky with your clouds. fantastic the contrast from yellow stones , with the blue of the boat.
nice work

Nice nautical scene Bev, I love these old ladies of the sea, even when they aren't so old. The thought of using the wind as power in lieu of Arab oil is more exciting to me now than it once was, using without consuming or destroying, what a concept. Shot is sharp and well framed and the focus is dead on, great capture.

Greg

Hello Bev,
I compliment for this beautiful composition on the harbour with a vertical format to have the tall mast well included in the image!
the exposure and focus is perfect and a perfect colour contrast between the harbour and the lovely blue sky!
the clouds formation adds a lot of beauty towards this beautiful composition
well done
TFS
take care and sincere regards
Tony

Hi Bev,
This is a fantastic vertical coastal shot with the beautifulold triple masted vessel standing out brilliantly as it sits in the deep blue sea lovely blue sky.
The colors are clear and crisp with beautiful lines from the rigging and the power lines.
Love the striking reflection as well.
Regards, Tom

Hello Beverley,

An another nice vew to this lovely harbour. I like of course the superb boat - very impressive- but I like too the colours of your photo especially the blue of the boat, the sea, the sky. The boat arise very well in a beautiful sky with nice clouds. An image riche in details and in contrasts. Good photowork.
Best regards,
Roger

Hi Bev,
well..I can only agree with the others. It`s a great capture of this beauty. Excellent colours,POV and sharpness. The framing looks a little bit strange.
I do agree with you concerning harbours. It`s a very special amosphere there, sea, saltwater, people, you know what i mean.
Best regards from Sweden

Hi Beverley,
Great photo, blue ship goes well with blue skies.
Interesting clouds and shadows in the foreground!
Best regards,
Sam

Hi Bev.
I just had a look at all your Paimpol photos, which are stunning. We went there last year in June, and ate in one of the many oyster restaurants. However, the weather was appalling and one could hardly see a thing through the driving rain. I could hardly associate the town with the sunny shots you have uploaded.
I picked this one as my favourite, although I am not sure about the lop-sided frame. The colour, clarity and composition are all superb, and that red top on the walker is a perfect foil for the blue boat. Very nice indeed.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Beverley,
I can't remain indifferent to such a photo of a ship standing proudly in the warm light:) I like the POV and also the way the blue colour of the ship on the incredibly blue water matches the blue colour of the sky. Very nice well-saturated colours. A "red element" on the right is a plus :)
best regards,
Elena

Wonderful, intense colours and great composition! Weldone Beverley!
