Photographer's Note

Today just a detail...
My picture shows a very old stonemasonry above the main entrance of the church in the little village Reelkirchen in the very north-east of the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia. I showed it yesterday.
It's a relief of St. Liborius - recently renovated. Liborius (348 - 396) was of a noble family of Gaul, he joined the priesthood, and was ordained (the second or third) bishop of Le Mans. He was a friend of St. Martin of Tours. During the forty-five years of his episcopacy he built many churches.
He is the patron saint of the diocese Paderborn which is concerned with this region. His relics were transferred to the cathedral of Paderborn, not far away from here, in the year 836.

Already in the year 850 a church was erected in Reelkirchen. The today's church was built about 1190. In the 9th century Reelkirchen was the centre of Christian mission within a large radius, a so called primal parish. Probably this relief derives from the older church.

Isn't it beautiful, this an a bit naive and somehow touching representation of a saint, of a bishop ...
