Photographer's Note

The Rhenish open air museum at Kommern is already represented here by seven captures, and I will care now that half of them are mine.

The museum's Lower Rhine village houses two windmills. The elder one is a post mill which requires that the complete mill house is turned to fit the wind direction - two photos can be found at TE. As windmills became bigger and improved their capabilities, they also became too heavy, and another type was invented: the Dutch mill in which the house is stationary and only top and sails have to be adjusted.
