Photographer's Note

Carnival in Germany reminds me of Halloween in the USA, however it´s a lot different. People dress in fancy costumes and go out into the streets, to party and to watch the parades they have. Unlike Halloween, this hasn´t anything to do with trying to scare each other, and the kids aren´t going from door to door to trick or treat their neighbours into handing out some sweets. Instead, sweets are eventually being thrown into the crowd from the carts that are slowly being towed through the cities which have such parades.

This photo was taken after the carts had left, and the crowd had begun to dissipate.

Check out the article on wikipedia for more background information:

The photograph is slightly blurred because the lady in blue moved, and moved out of focus. I just was so stupid as not to consider that people do move all the time, so I was using inadequate camera settings the whole afternoon.

Except for resizing and adding the frame, this is what came out of the camera: I decided against cropping it because for one thing, this is the way of seeing the scene --- and for another, the persons left and right give the lady in the center a kind of frame without being overly distracting. However, your comments about this are, as always, very welcome :)
