Photographer's Note

On a hike yesterday we visited the motorway service area "Siegerland-Ost" of the Autobahn A 45 for a coffee break. Long rows of trucks caught my eyes here - trucks from Hungary, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Slovenia, Serbia, Finland, Greece and one from France. Coming nearer we could see the drivers, sleeping, shaving, football playing, reading, carrying out small repairs, phoning, chatting ...
... the all "stranded" here in the late evening on Saturday and were waiting now for the end of Sunday traffic ban for trucks. In Germany - and some other countries - trucks aren't allowed to drive from midnight to 10 p.m. During school holidays this ban even begins on Saturday. There are some exceptions, e.g. for food transports.
This ban is very disputed in European Union - but I think it makes sense ...for different reasons.

In the workshop you can see a close up view.

The photo of Google Earth - please click at map view left hand - obviously was taken on a workday ... ;-)
