Photographer's Note

In the forest near the small Village Altenhof near my city, Siegen, between huge beech trees, there's a small pilgrimage church called "Dörnschlade". Nearby there's a little house were an anchoress lives who takes care of the chapel and it's surroundings and the whole site always is in good order. There's a special atmosphere here at this ridge, especially in summer, when the roof of the treetops nearly is closed.
During the year there are several processions to this chapel, sanctified to the Virgin Mary and day in, day out there are many visitors who frequent it.

This place of pilgrimage first was mentioned in a deed from 1414. The today's chapel was built in 1864
