[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is a view from a high rock towering the small town St. Goarshausen on the right (eastern) bank of Rhine river. You can see the docking manoeuvre of the car and foot passengers ferry coming from St. Goar on the other side of the river.
You can guess the narrowness in this valley - often flanked by steep rock faces and wine terraces.
At the bottom of my picture you can see one of the two railway lines in Rhine valley leading along the rocks. There is not much place for a town ... often there's only one row of houses between the street/river and the railway line.


In the map view left hand I marked the church. There you can see the ferry dock left of it - with the ferry!

Schoenes Blickwinkel und gute Schaerfe. Wenn man genauer betrachtet, jede Ecke, jede Einzelheit; tolle Beispiele der deutschen Liebe zum Detail. Aber logische Details. Toll die Landebreucke der Faehre; kurz und leicht im spitzen Winkel, anfahren, ausfahren !!!

tolle Aussicht von da oben, man geniesst den Blick nach unten auf diese schöne Szenerie..

An interesting photo taken from a high POV. The ferry and its dock look similar to the one in Linz am Rhein, which is shown in a webcam from that ferry. Very clear, natural colours and perfect sharpness. TFS.

Hi Frank,
This view really shows that the cliff is steep next to the village. Arrival of ferry was a well chosen moment. And those buildings indeed look squeezed. This would make a great theme for a miniature railway with so much details in limited space.

Excellent view from this bird's eye POV. The rooftops add nice patterns and line to the composition of the shot. The church looks a little like a ship itself and helps direct our attention to the ferry. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.

sehr schöner POV und ich stimme Mesut zu, es sieht wirklich aus wie eine Legostadt. Der Einfall des Lichts ist hervorragend, alle Dimensionen dieses Platzes werden ausgeleuchtet. Toller Job!

Frank, it looks like a model railway! Your shot is so sharp and colourful. I like the way you controlled the exposure, as the light reflecting from the water, boat and cars at the top of the picture is quite strong. You chose a great viewpoint for this delightful shot, and I'm glad you took it as the ferry was arriving. Well done.

Hallo Frank. Der Blick von oben ist fast immer etwas besonderes. Alles liegt da wie eine Spielzeuglandschaft, - die Häuser mit der Kirche im Mittelpunkt, die Fähre auf dem Rhein usw. Insgesamt ein schönes und sehenswertes Motiv. Viele Grüße, wolfgang.

wir wanderten nur an der andere Seite. Wie ich Dein (übrigens schönes) Bild betrachte, muss ich sagen, dass mir der Konkurrent (St. Goar) besser gefällt.
