I am sure someone will point out here that the tower of Burgtor is unfortunately placed in the very centre of the frame breaking the rule of thirds. However what I regret more is that I cut away so much of the reflection in the water. It would be so much more attractive having more of it! Well, too late for that since it is an archival photo taken almost exactly 10 years ago. I decided to share this picture mainly because of a very interesting light I had over there. It is as well a little known POV towards the gate.
Burgtor, built 1444 in late Gothic style, was the northern city gate of Hanseatic Lübeck, now in Germany. It is one of two towered gates remaining from the medieval fortifications, the other being the more famous Holstentor. The Baroque helmet-like roof was added in 1685.

Interesantan i lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazano, dobar kontrast i ostrina, lepe boje, lepo uhvacen trenutak. Lepa arhitektura i refleks na vodi.
Prijatno vece i sve najbolje za vikend, srecno.
Interesting and beautiful view, a good text ...
Good work, nice shown, good contrast and sharpness, beautiful colors, beautiful moment captured. Beautiful architecture and reflection on the water.
Good evening and all the best for the weekend, good luck.

I guess it will not have been possible to include the entire reflection on the picture. It isn't always possible. Besides, you don't have unnecessary empty space on top of the picture. And if you think it was possible to capture the complete reflection together with the tower ... in that case you will have to return to Lübeck of course!
I love the strong colour contrast on this picture and its overall quality.
Best regards, Paul

Widze, ze tez otwierasz szuflade.

W cyfrowym archiwum masz wiele ciekawych perelek.

Beautiful night photo. The warm lights illuminating the city, and the silhouettes of the trees stand out so well against the pale blue evening sky. The reflections are very attractive and the sharpness is spot-on.

well you said it in your note :) haha
actually, the center composition doesn't really bother me much at all here bc you have the building continues on in both directions, extending out. its the reflections in the water that you missed out on the most! I'm sure if you were to return here today, you'd get the entire scene in your frame :)
and thats quite the unique collection of colours too, that orange is VERY orange, and i like the black silhouetted looking branches against the blue hour light. thanks for this one
ikeharel (79317) 2017-03-11 6:29
The road along the far side bank dividing the scene from the real view down to the partial reflection.
Yet, indeed a precious light condition was that you had not missed it.
Have a nice weekend,

We don't seem to have seen as much of you lately. Have you been very busy!
Like me, you have been checking your archives and reliving as well as critiquing scenes from several years ago!
Yes, the tower is central but there are some well positioned, off-centre stairs which guide back to the tower and compensate nicely.
You are right, forget about the reflection, though we love them, they are not always the most important element and here, it is definitely the light that captures most attention. There is a rich, reddy warmth that is unusual in blue hour shots.
Have a good day,

Hello dear Mariusz,
At first sight it reminded me to the earlier periods of color photography.
Perfect layout and light management.
TFS and best regards

To sa tylko zasady z podzialem na trzy, czasem trzeba sie zbuntowac i zrobic kompozycje centralna lub zwariowana, bardzo ladne zdjecie blue hour,
adramad (50038) 2017-03-18 11:36
A fantastic architectural set, which with night lighting and that sky still blue, acquires a special charm, the water does not know if a river or pond offered perfect reflections, but you had to choose between capturing the whole and a part of reflections Or perhaps capture a vertical with the central part of the set and total reflections, but this image itself is a beauty.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Colorful, sharpness and brightness are captured excellently.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good weekend.

hahaha gotta love that: you're critiquing your own photo. It's a beauty though. Yes, wouldn't we all love to go back and re-shoot in that light. I think you did really well and I wouldn't have noticed the placement of the steeple if you hadn't mentioned it. Beautiful colours, light and reflections.
Cheers and a happy week to you

Wonderful warm cold color contrast between the rust red illuminated buildings and the bg blue hour sky. Good sharpness and nice fg reflections in the limpid water. Tfs!
