The half-timbered stables of Wulfshagen reflected in the moat again. Since I joined TE, I began noticing reflections - special thanks to Diane (Clio), a real master of reflections. I have turned this image 180° around and I want to thank Jean Charles (JCG) who inspired me with an excellent workshop on my first reflection in the moat!
The manor house of Wulfshagen, situated 12 km from Kiel, in the "Dänischer Wohld" (the Danish Woods) was built in 1699 for the Earl of Liliencron. Two large half-timbered stables are framing the house to which the public doesn't have access.
Dänischer Wohld was blessed with an abundant supply of oak, which was the most common material used for timber framing. Oak is hard and durable, which explains why so many half-timbered buildings have survived. Timber framing has high decorative qualities; with their blackened oak beams showing the fissures and cracks of great age. I also could have titled this image: The beauty of half-timbered framing.
Wulfshagen is since 1903 owned by the noble family Reventlow. Recently Moritz Earl of Reventlow, 34 years old and still single, was the principal character in the German TV’s soap opera “countess wanted”.

Hello Harriet,
Intriguing image, it is so sharp it's hard to believe it's a reflection. Which leads me to think maybe for strictly reflection shots the image needs something extra in the reflected image to give some visual orientation as to what you are really looking at. Otherwise what is it other than the reflection that makes the shot unique. Whew, now I'm confused, I hope that makes sense.
Anyway apart from all that, a very engaging capture. Well done.
Regards
Peter

salut harriet

Hello Harriet,
a reflection which really looks like a painting... Interesting idea to turn it upside down! Unbelievable stillness of the water... excellent soft colours; good composition.
Perhaps, a water sprite (nix) is missing in the picture? ;)
best wishes,
Elena

Hallo Harriet,

Helmut

Oh what a perfect reflection!
Nice twin old houses in the water
Good idea, well managed! Well done!

Hi again Harriet,

First of all thank you for the dedication. It is true that this kind of exercise is really trying when one has a so pretty reflection. Indeed this photograph resembles a painting. Well done Harriet, cheer… I propose to you, again, a WS for the pleasure.

With all my friendships and a very good evening,

Jean-Charles

Very good work!! A perfect reflection. I'm like you, until TE I never noticed reflections either :) This has a wonderful feeling to it. TFS

Hello Harriet,

So this is a reflection!
Good thing you tell me, otherwise I might think the image was treated with a mild artistic brush or something, hehehe...
And as always the colours benefit from being mirrored..!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Dag Harriet,
wonderful still water. Excellent reflection iin great colors. Beautiful buildings too.

Hi Harriet,
An expertly taken picture, really a water painting where the water ripples give a fantastic texture to the motive. A very creative photo and very well performed!

Hi Harriet,
The reflection is so perfect that it was impossible to notice it on the fingerprint. But it gives water painting appearance on the closer look. Those building look great on this light. 180 degrees flip is rather old trick though.
Kari

Hi Harriet,
I really like the impressionistic touch to this photo. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but the POV is also very nice. You have a lot of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines which add interest to the photo. Well done!

Kate

Hi Harriet,

A very good reflection and an excellent idea. The title "water painting" fits the image pretty well. A very good work and a good note too. Congrats!

Bonjour Harriet,
I am very touched and so happy as you so liked my photos of reflections! I have some in reserve , but I did not publish them because I thought that everybody had it enough! Then I am going to post someone!
But at first, I want to congratulate you on this one which is really very surprising.
At the beginning, we think that it is the reality, then we discover spots, the vagueness and we understand that it is a reflection. It's a very graphic and very well composed reflection.
Bravo, I like the photos which question, and here it is really very graphic and very well composed reflection.
Amicalement
Diane

Hello Harriet
I especially like unusual photos and this is one of them. By cropping the image itself and rotating the reflection your photo is very effective.

harriet

nice idea putting the façades in the reflections, the image is like a painting, it has something of softness and texture of a oil over canvas. nice view of the lines of this typical houses

hugs

Hello Harriet,

A very appropriate title for the photograph, but I am not sure that I would prefer it to the inverted version. In my new book on Leonardo da Vinci, soon to be released by National Geographic books, the great photographers of the the National Geographic have presented a very dramatic reflection, without inverting it, but they have made sure to include the sides of the puddle or pond. The viewer is forced to invert it in his/her mind, to invest greater attention.

But I do like the image very much anyway. Have a good Sunday,

Bulent

Hi Harriet,
Clever gemacht!Very nicely composed and vertically fliped gives this reflection image a tremendous scene,Bravo!

Bonjour Harriet,
une grande réussite technique et artistique ici, une exploitation parfaite des reflets.
Il est vrai que cela fait un peu 'peinture à l'huile'.

Hello Harriet
Amazing reflection...from the thumbnail I had no idea! As I look into the picture...does look like a water colour more than a photograph. You're becoming quite an expert in reflections...well well done Harriet!
Regards
Angshu

Clever idea, charming architecture, the water adds interesting distortion in the reflections.
