This is a pic showing some detail of the "Henrichshütte" in Hattingen, Germany. The Henrichshütte was buildt in 1854 and offered work to several thousand employees at its best time.
The last 2 furnaces were closed down in 1987.
One of them was sold to China, dismantled and transported to the far east.
The old workers still tell stories about those days. For example the parts dedicated for China were marked with a red dot and those to stay were marked with a yellow one. Every night someone painted the red dots yellow to keep the furnace...
Nowadays the former industrial area is a museum - and it's worth a visit. Not only if you are interested in heavy industries.
