This is a square in the small town Oberwesel on the left (western) riverbank of Rhine river about 40 kilomters south of Koblenz. This region between Bingen/Rüdesheim and Koblenz is called Upper Middle Rhine Valley and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the background you can see the rocky and steep eastern slope of Rhine valley.

Oberwesel has about 3000 inhabitants. It probably was founded as a Celtic settlement and later on the Romans have been here. After the fall of Limes the small settlement became a royal Frankish property. Already in 1220 Oberwesel became a free imperial town. With the earnings of winegrowing, fishing (salmon) and trade the town was able to erect a town wall in the 14th century which still today nearly is complete. You can see a part of it in the background.

Oberwesel still today has many romantic and beautiful places - as you can see here ...

Oh, such a very German place! Amazing photo and town is great I'm sure. Very good photo it is. Old wall adds something here. XIV century one, that's good that it's still stands.

This town looks historic as well as many others on that river section. I never stopped there but remember it from aboard a ship. Great looking half timbered buildings, cosy cafe tables. And city gate and hills in the background.

This is a fine little town with great architecture. Your composition is fine using the square to lead the eye into the shot. The angle of the shot is nice giving the scene nice depth and a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail. Your WS shot is definitely good enough to have been another main post. We sailed past Oberwesel on river cruise but did not get to stop there. This looks like a nice place to be right now rather than riding out this tropical storm here in Florida. TS Fay is sitting almost directly on top of us right now and I expect we will loose power again at any time.

je prefere le cadrage de ton ws qui met en valeur la place et l'angle de la rue et de la maison, mais cemme-ci aussi n'est pas mal avec ces maisons à colombages et toujours des fen^etres aussi fleuries
