[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The Rickmer Rickmers is a three masted bark, now a museum ship anchored in Hamburg's harbour. She started her career under her current name, in the fleet of the Hamburger shipowner Rickmer, who named his ships after the members of his family. Renamed Max after a transfer to another owner, she was allocated to the Portuguese Navy after WWI, and served as a training ship as "Sagres (II)" (one of the different Sagres ships, since there have been several of them - I had a discussion about that a long time ago about another picture showing the current "Sagres" (who is in fact "Sagres III")...). When disarmed, she was tugged back to Hamburg and restaurated to her initial name and colors.
Two other shots in workshop of details of the ship.

A little more information found on Wikipedia:
Rickmer Rickmers is a sailing ship moored in Hamburg harbour, near the Cap San Diego.
The Rickmer Rickmers was built in 1896 by the Rickmers shipyard in Bremerhaven, and was first used on the Hong Kong route carrying rice and bamboo. In 1912 she was bought by Carl Christian Krabbenhöft, renamed Max, and transferred to the Hamburg - Chile route.
In World War I the Max was captured by the British Army in a Portuguese harbour. For the remainder of the war the ship sailed under the Union Jack, as the Flores. After World War I she became a Portuguese ship and was once more renamed, as Sagres (the second of that name). In 1958, she won the Tall Ships' Race.
In the early 1960s the Sagres (II) was renamed yet again as the Santo Andre, and laid up in a shipyard. She was purchased in 1983 by an organisation named "Windjammer für Hamburg e.V.", renamed for the last time, back to Rickmer Rickmers, and turned into a floating museum ship.

Bonsoir Emmanuel,

Bien vu.

Bonjour Emmanuel
Fine image, but I liked the WS#2, quite novel. The green & the red colours stand out in the otherwise bleak colours. Thanks also for the very informative note as always
Best Regards
Angshu
