This is a part of the marketplace of Hildesheim with the so called "Knochenhaueramtshaus" in the middle of my photo. Hildesheim is situated in the German federal state Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). Knochenhaueramtshus was the guild house of the butchers and it originally was built in the year 1529 - higher than the nearby city hall in order to show the economic and political influence of this guild. Some people say that it is the most beautiful half-timbered house of the world. Perhaps they are right. It's the true highlight of the marketplace with a lot of wonderful old buildings.
It is built in Gothic and Renaissance style and the whole facade is completely decorated with carvings.

Four big cellars in former times served as natural fridges and in the ground floor booths were established. In the upper floors there have been conference rooms and ballrooms and under the huge roof hides were dried. Today Knochenhaueramtshaus houses a rustic restaurant and the city museum.

To be honest - the original guild house was destroyed totally in World War II, in March 1945, and it was rebuilt true to the original in 1986. 400 cubic meters of oak-timber were needed for this really great undertaking and 4300 connections were established with more than 7500 treenails.

By the way - Hildesheim was founded about the year 815 as a bishop's see with a cathedral by Louis the Pious (in German: Ludwig der Fromme), a son of Charlemagne. Buildings in its Old Town today are a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

In the workshop you can see other pictures of this incredible building.

Dimitris.

Hello Frank,

The typical architecture is very well captured, I admire the sharpness in the fine details!
Good point of view to include foreground interest including the people...
A balanced composition, attractive colour palette including the fine late summer sky!

Anyway, lovely!

Hallo Frank,
Indeed, an incredible house and so was incredible also the rebuild work. This shows more of the other houses around and the fountain, but I like the WS #1 most, because less distractions and yet full of life.
All photos have good natural colours and perfect sharpness. Thanks for the good note too.
Greetings, Lasse

A lovely place you show to us in this well taken picture Frank, I love this architecture, finely done with excellent colors!!!

Have a nice day,
Fabio.

Hi, friend!
Very interesting old architecture. I like your composition. Good colours and light. Many, many windows...
Marek

All the best...

Hi Frank,
Again a magnificient shot from old German town centres. The house really is big and well preserved one. The fountain and people shopping are good foreground details.
Kari

Bonjour Frank
Jean-Pierre

Hello Frank,
Much to take in in this very interesting composition. The fountain and background architecture are beautifully detailed with excellent colours and clarity. The shoppers provide a nice sense of animation.

Hallo Frank. Sehr sehenswert. Viele Grüße, wolfgang.

Hi Frank,
Hildesheim also seems to be a beautiful old town, but I´m sorry to say that all I´ve seen here is Tankstelle Hildesheimer Börde along the BAB 7. Will have to change that!
Greetings from Gothenburg
Gunnar

Hallo Frank!

Toll gemacht
Danke schoen

Really great presentation. Superb piece of architecture.
Regards my dear friend.

Salut mon Ami Frank,

Frank,
This is some amazing architecture. Your composition is great with the inclusion of the fountain in the foreground and the overhanging tree providing good framing for the scene. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. The great blue sky provides a nice backdrop for the shot.
TFS,
Asa

You are the master of these fine German architectural scenes, Frank, and this one presents a fine structure set well amidst the scenes of a busy daily life. regards Kevin

Hallo Frank,
This house seems to be really superb, being there on market day obstruates the view quite a bit in the bottom part but the light is pleasant in the way it hits this lovely house front.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Frank,
Beautiful light, very well replete colours and superb contrasts formings splendid the fine arts of this place. The photograph properly about reporter character , into the kind manner shows the fragment of the city and everyday to the bustle of his inhabitants. Nice for the eye photo all the more that deep inside it shows the incredibly beautiful architecture. The everyday life interlaced here with splendid certificates left by history.
Best regards from clammy Poznan,
Jurek

Hello FranK:

Dear friend, thank you for allowing me to visit my gallery and know theirs. Although my camera is not professional, I try as best they can to make beautiful work.

In making it, at your point of view, I am very pleased that the architecture can be seen. The composition, with the statue through, is extraordinary, and the sky and people walking by the scene, give warmth and dynamism to it.

Well done. A hug from Colombia

John

Hi Frank
Great capture of this nice place. A lot of interesting architecture. Good light.

Nochmals schwitzende Gruesse
:-)
