Photographer's Note
The staircase of the Ruhr Museum ( the former coal washery) of the former coal mine Zeche Zollverein.
The giant industry complex of the Zollverein is turned into an industry park with of course the Rhur museum as attraction but also with a lot of the technical faciltities like shaft towers and their hoisting installations and the coal cart transportation system still in tact and accessible. A great alternative for an urbex trip. Legit and more safe ;-)
The drastic renovation of the coal washery was designed by OMA (Rem Koolhaas' Office of Metropolitan Architecture) with Heinrich Böll (not the wrighter but the architect from Böll und Krabel).
The staircase is situated in the giant void of the former 40 meter high raw coal bunker.

Hello Bert,
I took nearly the same shot (and tried some more), and now I regret not beeing the first to upload it! Perhaps I´ll show some other photos I took there, it´s a good place to take pictures of rusty pipes and other garbage!
Your notes are always intresting, I did not notice before, that Rem Koolhaas´ bureau was involved in planning this site, until now I only heard of him in Rotterdam-context.

Good Morning Bert,
You certainly have your own recognisable style which is minimalistic, colourful and very modern.
I like this very much. There is a fine interplay of light and shadow, there is inferred movement and, maybe, a story to tell.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Dag Bert,
Met deze foto bent u duidelijk op de experimentele toer.
De handgrepen welke verlicht zijn maken alles aantrekkelijk.
De zwarte silhoutten van de mensen op de trap zijn een goede toevoeging als geheel.
Goed contrast beeld Bert. Bedankt.
Groeten uit een koud Vlaanderen -10° Celsius deze morgen.
Misschien komt te Elf Steden tocht er nog eens!
