"All art books and reproductions can do is remind you of the original paintings you've seen. Even then, sometimes they can acutally deform the original idea."
Being Argentinian, when I got to see masterieces personally I felt I had finally met in person an old 'penpal' friend...
I loved your striking picture, the perspective with mao in the end, and a few silhouettes of people who look small compared to the works of art...
thank you for a great photo and an excellent note.

hello,
nice picture, nice composition.
It would be beter if you had only 1 person on the left.
Regards
I like this shot - it's a clean, almost sterile shot. White walls, white light and black figures make for an interesting scene.
Maybe you could have deliberately over-exposed the external light, that way creating a sort of surreal effect?

A well composed photograph with all lines converging at the Mao portrait in the distance. It's a bit over exposed in the left side and the focus a bit soft, but overall a fine achievement.
Hi Lynn
What very good compo you made here. Excellent perspective, the lovely roof, the depth with the shaded lines all leading in to Mao himself ...
Impressive as coming from a scanned version. Good job

Nice deep perspective, Lynn. The lines are really excellent. They seem to zip me right down to the portrait of Mao way down there. The people really add a nice sense of scale and some nice obstacles the eye can move around as it zips down, sweeping them aside. It is just a bit crooked, though, so it could use a slight counter-clockwise rotation. But i really like the graphic look of the scene as you captured it with this nice symmetrical composition. Well done.
The Detroit Inst. of Arts, though perhaps not well known as a major art institute, is the fifth largest in the US and allows photography of all of its displays. Though you do need to get a permit type of sticker when you walk in the door or else they ask you to get one. And any visiting exhibits cannot be photographed there.

Excellent composition Lynn! The lines draw the eye the picture of Mao. Having a few people in the shot lends a sense of scale. Well done!

Gosto da composição, embora do lado esquerdo preferisse ver menos pessoas!
