[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is das Reichstagsgebäude (the building of the Reichstag) in Berlin on a winter day.

The Reichstag is the building where the German Parliament, der Bundestag has its seat.
The building was opened in 1894 and housed the parliament (that in this period also was called Reichstag) until 1933. It became the seat of the German Parliament again in 1999.

As I already mentioned in another picture, the building has been witness for several important events in European history of the 20th century.
When the Kaiser had resigned in 1918, Philipp Scheidemann proclaimed the republic from one of the balconies of the Reichstag. After this the building became the seat of the Weimar-Republic (1919-1933).
In 1933, a month after Hitler was appointed Reichskanzler, the building was set on fire and the Nazi-party used the fire to get all the power in Germany, but the Nazis didn’t use the building after that. During the war, it was heavily damaged.
During the Cold War, the building was within West-Berlin, but only a few meters from the place, the Berlin Wall was built in 1961.
On October 3, 1990, after the fall of the Wall, the building was used again for the reunification ceremony.
In 1999, after a renovation, the Reichstag became again the seat of the German Parliament.

Nowadays, the building is famous for its dome, that was built during the renovation. Here you can see a picture inside the dome.

I cropped this picture a bit and added a frame.

Hope you like it.

The picture is a bit flat, and has got perspective error that can easily be corrected in PS. I've done som changes.

Lars, you are a good journalist writer as well, in addition to the photographing. I enjoyed your introduction to this building.
Between the white ground and the white sky, here goes the old building. The building looks like a silent witness for all historical events listed in you note.
Nice composition.

Another fine shot from Berlin. However I have to agree with the workshop, mostly on the colors. I do like the cropping though. Keep them coming from your Germany trip!

Bonjour Lars, belle photo d'architecture, le rendu de la façade est bon, bonne profondeur. Joli travail .

It's good to see the photo behind the note. ;-D
Very good strong colours, but there's some space for improvements - Mitch has already mention one.
Well done,
Robi

interesting building, I like the angle and also the flag on the left, very good details shown too, well done

Hi Lars,
Gr Rob

What I like in your compo is the flag in the left upper corner. It makes the pic a littel original and it's a very useful detail to where we are (for someone who wouldn't recongnize the building).
Good idea.
Stéphane
