[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Here is another picture of die Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche (Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church) in Berlin. Here you can see another picture of this church.

As I told you in my other note, the church is located at Kurfüstendamm and built between 1891 and 1895. During the Second World War the church was destroyed in a bombing and the only part remaining is the ruin of the belfry. Between 1951 and 1961 a new church was built next to the site of the old one.

The new church was designed by Egon Eiermann. He built next to the ruins an eight sided church and a separate hexagonal tower. The church itself is glazed with blue glass blocks. By locals this new church is called the lipstick and powder puff, the old church is known as the hole in the tooth.

I cropped the picture a bit and added a frame.

Hope you like it!

Very good shot Lars. Very impresive. I agree with alvaraalto that the building on the right gives an extra perspective in your picture. Well done!!

Regards John

It's nice to see this shot from a different angle. The blue sky is fantastic. I think I like this view even more than the first one. This angle is certainly more dramatic and really gets your attention. Nice job Lars!

The stone is marked by the time, weather and History.
I like this down to up shot whit this strong architecture and the delicate opposition whith the modern building.
This is very well done.

Hi Lars, I like your detailed view for this building. The historic marks can be seen clearly in this photo. The contrast to the background sky is very clear. A well selected POV.

A fine capture of the ruins from this church,Lars.Good compo that shows also a part from the architecture from the new church.Well chosen PoV with a good perspective.
Goed werk!

Bonjour Lars,
Philippe

A very nice perspective of the church from your low point. It's all very clear (not always easy with a high view), maybe I would have seen some more of the modern building, but it's a very nice pic, Lars !

Hello Lars, it was to be imposing before the war. Beautiful camera angle and beautiful contrasts.
JP

Hi Lars,
I like this bottom up approach with this kind of buildings. The modern building on the right gives an extra dimension at the picture.

Really nice, a blue sky, the opposition between old and new, the point of view!
Very well done, Lars!
Claude

Amazing angle, Tue. In my opinion (well, I lived in Berlin for 5 yrs....) you captured the historical background of this church. Showing us the damages of WW II as well as the 'new' belfry; the skewed perspective represents in some way world's unhinged very time, there's no reality except our own thoughts and experiences. Great work in this way.

Geweldige foto!
Verder mooie lucht erbij.
Goed gezien en goed uitgevoerd!

The perspective and depth are great, Lars, as well as the sharpness, colours and detail. Also a good and elucidative note, well done!

Hi Lars, nice upward perspective on this one and a nice composition. The ruin of the church stands out very nice against the blue sky, nice colours and contrast. Well captured!

Bonjour Lars

Hello Lars
A beautiful old architecture in opposition with the modernism. I vote personnally for old architecture. However I appreciate much the framing and the clearness of the composition.

Interresting point of view and very good light that place these old stones in a very advantageous perspective. The glimpse of the modern building on the right is also a fine detail.
Is it my eyes that are tired or is there a slight focus problem ?

This picture shows that particular edifice well, Lars. How it is actually a ruin that still bears signs of the bombing. And the wonder of it still being there at all. I am hesitating over the building on the right. Maybe you could have cloned that out. But it also depicts modern Berlin well, so I guess it's OK to leave it in.

Very good this capture. Bold, well looking colour setting, nice low pov - fine contrast with the blue sky. Good work Lars

Indrukwekkende foto's maak je van gebouwen. Deze ziet er ook weer geweldig uit. Het nieuwe gebouw zit erg bijzonder in het geheel erg strak gedaan.

You got inspired by this church and it looks like you enjoyed shooting it !
Well down, with an original pov and frame. I like the small piece of the modern tower in the upper side right.

Bonne composition !
Jacques

Hi Lars
