The roofs of Andernach taken from a site not accessible to the public.
Parish church Maria Himmelfahrt (St. Mary's Assumption) closes the view northward down the Rhine valley through Andernach gap. Runder Turm (the round tower) with its 56 m is a part of the medieval town fortification from 1440. The French tried to blow it up in 1689, but failed.
There used to be another obtrusive object in the Andernach panorama: the high silo of a malt factory.
This sin of urban planning was torn down several years ago and has not been missed since then.
