[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
I'm going to finish my Berlin-travelogue. Don't worry, after this one, there'll come at least two more.
And it's Saturday again, so here is, just as last Saturday and two weeks ago, a picture of the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche. With this shot I would like to express the contrast between old and modern even more.

Here you can see my other two pictures of this church:
Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche I
Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche II

Die Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche (Kaiser Wilhelm-Memorial Church) is located at Kurfürstendamm. The church was built between 1891 and 1895. Emperor Wilhelm II ordered the construction in honour to his grandfather Wilhelm I. The church was built in a neo-Romanesque style.
The church was destroyed in a bombing during the Second World War and the only part remaining is the ruin of the belfry. Between 1951 and 1961 a new church was built next to the site of the old one after the plans of Egon Eiermann. He built next to the ruins an eight sided church and a separate hexagonal tower. The church itself is glazed with blue glass blocks.
The old church was kept as a ruin in memory of the horrors of war.
The ruin is 68 meter high, but the original tower was 113 meter.
By locals this new church is called the lipstick and powder puff, the old church is known as the hole in the tooth.

I cropped the picture a little bit and increased the contrast.
Hope you like it!

Note after uploading:
I saw a lot of pictures taken at 17.02 UTC today. I obviously missed this challenge :-S, but my contribution to this theme wouldn't have been very spectacular, cos I was fallen asleep at 17.02 after a day working ;-)
I hope you like this one anyway, although it was taken exactly on 09.34 UTC, March 2 ;-)

Lars, a very interesting and successful composition. I see a blue sky! ;) I like the contrast between old and new here. The sharpness seems just right. The pov looking way up is great. Nicely done!

Contrast is the theme of this picture.
Old & New
Baroque & new age.
Curves & Straight lines
Well captured

Hi LArs,
What a contrast! Yet you managed to create unity in the composition. Very good observation and using it intelligently. Well done!

Hi Lars, the photo together with the note made me laugh. Yeah, it does look like a special teeth model. I am not sure about the lipstick because I don't use them.
Very nicely composed photo. This photo may belong to the humorous category also.

Nice comparison you show us here,Lars!
Good compo with well chosen pov and a dynamic perspective.Excellent sharpness that shows the different architecture and surfaces very good.

bonjour Lars, de nouveau un beau contraste entre les clochers des deux époques. Beau travail.

hello Lars, again a beautiful contrast enters the two time old bell-towers.
Beautiful work.

Bonjour Lars,
J'aime toujours autant cette opposition et apposition de ces deux édifices ; que peuvent-ils se raconter.
L'angle est parfait pour restituer la dimension dans tous les sens du terme.
Une très bonne série.
Très bien fait.
Philippe

Lars,
Intressant vinkel och fina effekter från formerna. Färger och kontrast funkar föredömligt.
Magnus

great for the hunt, I like the old and the new together, you ahve been doing your homework, really good work here, I like the sharpness of boh buldings here

This is a great way to show the contrast. I also really like the first one. The new one seems almost like a toy in that one. But in this one they seem to both be an equal part of the urban fabric. And it is really a haunting contrast. The broken tower and the stark, harsh, brutalist modern. Also that you have not cropped the top so that it clearly goes above the old tower also has a new over old triumph sort of feel. And as a monument I think it is a very suitable monument as a reminder of things that should never happen again. Well done.

Superb contrast between the old and the new, the beauty and the ugliness, the excellent architecture and the "boxes"! Nice angle you chose here Lars!!

Regards John

Hi Lars - excellent contrast of ruined beauty and the modern monster that seems to want to crush it.

I've enjoyed your Berlin travelogue, Lars. This shot is especially impressive, contrasting the old and new architecture. You managed to squeeze in both buildings without making the scene look unduly cramped. Well done. Regards, John.

Your pov gives an interesting strenght to the contrats between the modern and the old buildnings.
Well composed.

Hi Lars,
You seemed to be fascinated by this motif in Berlin. Yes, it's a great combination of old and modern. This photo has very well planned composition and an artistic appeal. I like it a lot. Well done!

Thanks,
Marek

Hej Lars
This is an excellent close-up composition, showing us the details and contrasts bettween this old and new church, in a very clear image. I love the graphic result and the close angle from down-up. Very well done!
Hilsen,
Ricardo
