[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
There is always someone, somewhere, to f**k up the system and reinvent individuality within an organized world.

After all, that’s what a biological system is all about, not only adapting to random changes in itself and in its environment, but also shaping itself to use that randomness. Molecules that work together to build and maintain our genes, the genes that build and maintain our cells, the cells that build and maintain our organs, the organs that build and maintain our bodies, the bodies that make up a population, the populations that make up a species, the species that make up an ecology.

Because of their massive numbers, their varying goals, their interdependence, and their imprecision, the behaviour of biological systems is usually partly unpredictable. Too many things can affect how they work for anyone to be able to predict actual outcomes. They reflect the biological nature of those who form them (among whom, those little creatures called human beings), struggling to survive but eventually having to face death sooner or later.

Systems evolve frequently because of variants. Those ass*les who just can’t keep quiet and their mouth shut. Those in whose brains neurons compete for space. Those who reach out their arms to seize life, when all the others have already quit the game. Those who plunge into the eyes of the abyss, and laugh out loud with despise at fear as if they were living their last minute in every instant. Are you a variant?

Bonsoir Gal
YES superbe cadrage, pour ces courageux des émotions fortes. Le tout sous des tons gris, qu'est ce que cela donne en N&B ?
Salutations

Yes, I am (a variant) !

C'est cool, le silver star !
J'aime bien ce cadrage et ce bras qui se lève...
C'est très graphique.

It’s fine when a note doesn’t match fully with a picture, when it doesn’t explain picture and picture is not an illustration of the note. It provokes further thoughts. For instance: I am not convinced that a single fist raised up against empty space during the childish mass entertainment is a sign of variant individuality, and I don’t see it as a gesture of system evolving factor. But I also can relax from my "ratio" and thanks to the quality of your picture and writing to feel and believe in this game adn enjoy it. Maybe I am not so desperate game-quitter, although it’s too late for me to become a true variant. May I stay somewhere between?
In your free fabulation of ideas I recognise some mental kinship with Jorrit, not crazy though.

Salut Gal

Je trouve que la composition est très soignée. La dominante du gris avec les petites tâches de couleurs des bras des passagers donne de la force à cette image.
J’aime aussi le côté graphique et comme tu as mis en valeur cette machine.

Bonjour Gal, very, very strong composition, curves, straight lines, triangles, and that one arm standing out, is enough for you to write a good, thorough note. I remember one of the discussions I think in the 'photography' forum about being an individual, that everyone would like to be one, but who really is? (or something like that, I don't remember excatly, but I think your name popped up there, of course ;-)).
I have been in such a thing once, was always a bit afraid, but then I thought, that it was probably safer that the usual traffic, and I plunged in. I loved it! But one of the nicest things about it, that I finally got the chance to use my singing technique to the full, and scream as loud as I could, which is very loud (everyone gets deaf, when I do that). Not because I was afraid, I wasn't, but just for the joy to use my voice at the maximum volume.
You will certainly think that I am even younger than you at first assumed, but now also probably think that I'm rather immature as well, so be it. ;-)

the image is disturbing... i mean, i would expect movement and you show stillness.
as for your note... well, living here is not for beginners.

Interesting note (though I agree with Peter, Tavo, that it's a bit of a tangent from the pic) and the pic is much better than I thought from the thumb (where I didn't make out the raised fists). My main critique here is that though the composition of elements is good, the colour is really kindof dull. I thought about BW, but then the little splashes of colour would be missing, so I'm left thinking that things could be better, but am unsure of how to improve the source matierial.

Ahh well. ;)

It's still a nice shot Gal.

I can't help it, I just love your tangential rants. Don't we all wish we were variants? Well, I'm pretty certain you are.

Nice photo, good moment. I somewhat agree with Alex on the colour issue but what can you do?

Hey Gal, what a cool shot. I like the geometry of the bars and pillars and of course the YES!

Nice moment here, Gal, with the arm in the air and monsoon type clouds for background. Not sure why some say the colors are not as great as they would want them to be...for me they work just fine. Quite a different shot for you but in more ways than one an original image. Well done.

Bonjour Gal,

A+

of course i would poke holes in a system
maybe one can't fix it alone
but it won't be fixed if others can't tell and don't join in the effort
a system may be organized without being equitable or efficient
suppose a bunch of biological entities tied themselves together while mountain climbing
but no one remembered to anchor the end of the rope for safety
sure would be an organized fall wouldn't it

not all systems can - or should - be fixed
sometimes it's better to rescue others from the machine
or find a better machine to fix up
_________________________________________________________________________________________

gee - where did i come from - no one asked me to participate
just dropped in to see how the (r)evolution was going
been accused of having random thoughts all my life
guess this comment is just another example

it's not just seeing the arm in the photo that makes a statement - it's seeing it from the back side
