| Schloss Favorit a palace, not far away from Rastatt or from Baden-Baden, was build under Mark count Ludwig William of Baden (1655 - 1707), the "Turk Louis", who used the French Versailles palace as model for this magnificent building. Built between 1698 and 1705 by the bohemian architect Michael Ludwig Rohrer and its garden planed by the architect Domenico Egidio Rossi. It has remained completely preserved as the oldest baroque residence on the upper Rhine. Palace and its park stand today under monument protection, visitors are invites to have a look at this pure example of baroque architecture. It accommodates an important collection of European and Chinese porcelain. |

It's a beautiful picture, but teh palace gets lost in the midst of all the trees and the grass. It would have been better if you focused more on the palace itself and reduced a bit of the grass in front. Regards, Yvonne
