[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Containeous flow of ships travel through Rhine in daytime. Slim container ships with colourful containers were one of most interesting themes I found on my April trip.
Here's one accompanied with vineyards of Rüdesheim and the ruins of Ehrenfeld castle built around 1210.

Terve Kari,

Is that a flying duck?
A bit rotated view (I like the JY workshop) buf otherwise an excelent photo with different elements present.
Nice job.

regards, Aleks

Hi Kari
Nice picture but tilt is visible on towers. I like the steppy rod and nice colors od the ships.
Sharpness can be improved for me. A little WS for this.
Cheers
JP

Hi Kari,

Interesting picture, but I agree fully with the WS's made, they both improve it a lot. I wanted to give you 1 point for this, but then I saw the flying duck and now i give you two :)

TFS
Alexander

One of my dreams is to navigate with a boat many river like this to enjoy the beautiful landscapes, thanks Kari, beautiful view and interesting image well composed, compliments.

Hi Kari,

Very amazing scenery with a lot of elements: the ship, the containers, the Rhine, the ruins of the Ehrenfeld castle, the vineyards etc...

Fascinating, the optical illusion you catched with the upper wall of the vineyard (middle to upper left corner of the picture) Wall appears to be at angle and seems that it will fall sometime in a near future.

Hi Kari,
Your composition is endlessly interesting with the modern container ship contrasting with the ruined castle, the swithchbacks in the road(s?) descending the mountain, and the use of every small strip of land between switchbacks for farming. How do they till such steep hillsides with their neat rows? Are there two roads? Where I can see the face of the road, it's just two white tracks framed in green. Perhaps there's a parallel farm road? ...And I haven't even gotten to the duck? and the steep bushy hillside.
No wonder your photo attracked not one but two excellent photographers to spend time with it. And even that is interesting, When I looked at the photos. I thought, "They corrected the tilt." Then I read your note and tried a straight edge in each and it looks to me like the straightened ones are no straighter than the original; of course, I'm no good at straight. I do like the sharpening in JPs

Hi Kari,
Cultural clash well depicted!
Wineyards and ancient ruins dating hundreds of years back as contrasted to today's means of transportation... Interesting!
Pleasant composition... strong diagonal with good lines all over!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Terve Kari,
A nice image, I like the triangle of the three elements boat castle and bird and the graphic lines in the vineyards, also it's a nice combination of daily Rhine business with historical value of this region, I like it.
I prepared a small WS for you.
Have a ncie day,
Jean-Yves

Hello Kari,
the escaping duck gives a nice extra in this scenery.Water always has to float downstream - think this is why you tilted the horizon towards the left?! ;-) BIG SMILE. Thomas

There's such a lot to see in this shot Kari, not least the precariously balanced castle. Even without the container ship this is an excellent composition and what luck to capture the flying duck.
Kath

Salut Kari
Beautiful photo and nice composition with a lot of thing to
look at. I like the contrast and the colors but the sharpnees
is a bit weak. In anyway I like the whole picture. Thx
Quentin

Modern Rhin confronted with the ancient one on the same picture. This is really well seen Kari. A flying duck as a final touch.
Well done !
Christophe

Hi Kari,
Superb POV, great landscape, many interesting details in your shot, castle, colorful boat and bird, well taken, bravo !

Hi Kari,
Its been a while since I last looked in on you.Wow a real conflict going on in this one...a bit distracting but a god POV.That little bit of ancient history all made of stone and rock...fading...crumbling and then a stark example of modern creation, brash, threatening....an interesting image.TFS.
Regards, David

Hello Kari,
I'm not sure that the foreground boat is the best foreground you may have choosen here, but the scenery and contraste too the old castle is very nice.

Didier

Very nice composition (but I prefer the WS version)
Presence of the duck is lucky and welcome.
