Photographer's Note

The rainbow is a multicolored optical and meteorological phenomenon that occurs in the range of colors that make up visible light in the sky. The phenomenon occurs when the sun's rays falling on rain droplets in the Earth's atmosphere and is an example of refraction, after reflection. Each color (i.e each wavelength) is refracted at a different angle inside the droplets (which act as tiny prisms), suffers a different diversion so the visible white light is analyzed in various colors that compose it, namely the spectrum. This shows the spectrum of sunlight as a multicolored arc, with red dominating the outer side, and violet in the interior. The diversity of the angle of each wavelength (color) and shape of the droplets explains the arcuate shape of the problem and not another.

* To understand the rainbow by an observer should have turned their backs to the sun.

Although rainbows display a wide range of colors, the most visible is the red, yellow, blue, namely the primary colors indigo and violet and orange. Note however that the rainbow is actually a continuous spectrum, and also all the intermediate shades of these colors.

In a famous European myth, based on the rainbow a pot full of gold waiting for anyone who manages to get there, which is physically impossible because the rainbow is an optical illusion that is not detected at the site.(translation from wiki)
