Mesolonghi sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Coming back from a trip (5 days in Kerkyra - Corfu. 5 days in Kastoria) I made a half an hour stop to one of my favorite places in Greece, the Lagoon of Mesolonghi and I took some photos. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Greece (HERE you can see more photos from the same region, take on my 2 hours stay, last year).

PS 1. During my stay at Kastoria, I had a very pleasant meeting with evanrizo. I realized that Trekearth is not about rules and mods, sometimes even photography is not the most important thing, TE is mostly about comunicating, sharing and meeting people.

PS 2. Many, many thanks from my heart to all those who participated to the discussion about my last photo, and many, many thanks to all those who with their kind words helped me to take the right decision (I hope)

PS 3. This is my first post with the Canon 1Ds Mark III (21 MP !!!), which unfortunately isn't mine :-( (I have not become a rich man!). It was given to me (along with a EF 16-35 f/2.8 L USM) by the new magazine I work for now (you 'll have news about that soon), and I can tell you it's the best "toy" that I ever had in my life. I hope that it will be my companion to the next trips also, until after 8-10 years I will be able to buy myself one!

*With 80 MB for one TIFF file, you 'd better have a fast computer, with this "toy"...

You managed to reduce the size of the image very well so that the quality remained perfect!

Bueno, bueno, bueno,... no puede ser para tanto.

Con esta cámara yo me esperaba algo diferente (con dinosaurios, rayos láser y chicas en bikini).
Pero veo que la cámara es mucho más limitada de lo que me imaginaba.

Y sí... yo me esperaba más de la foto (¿se nota cierto tono de ironía?). Pero en cualquier caso lo mejor de la foto es la foto misma, el PS 1 y verte por aquí de vuelta.

Por cierto, sin haber acabado de poner fotos de Grecia puede que ponga también de Italia... no hay nada seguro todavía.

Δεν ξέρω τι λένε για τα ηλιοβασιλέματα στο ΤΕ αλλά εσύ Ηρακλή τα έχεις μετατρέψει σε τέχνη.
Το ένα καλύτερο από το άλλο.

Canon 1Ds Mark III... βάζω στην άκρη κάτι οικονομίες για ένα μικρό αυτοκίνητο και εσύ παίζεις με τον πόνο μας! Great colors and serenity post again from your favourite place. The quality of that expensive toy is indeed incredible. The colors, the boats, reflections... even the bird is a great addition to the cadrage. Congrats for this lovely sunset.

PS: I really agree with you concerning your note, TE is favoured at its best when you meet people around the world or in your own country. Besides having good time, what i love the most here, is meeting people, and doing this in real world, not only in the website.
Concerning your forum, i must say that having you here in TE is much preferrable than losing you (and only because of a deleted photo), because you are a really admired photographer here, and you have friends. Quitting would mean losing some friends of yours. So, better forget your anger and stay here with us.

Are you sure it is a place in Greece? It looks like a sunset on a lake of central Africa with this amazing red sky. Yes, the boats are typical of Greece. I like the high tree near the sun and the bird too. It is a so peaceful atmosphere. Unbelievable. Difficult to appreciate the quality of the camera on this small size. But I'm sure that this photo can make a wonderful poster.

I am so happy as you return on TE. I was really afraid that you are so irritated that you left definitively. I had decided to send you an e-mail if you had not given news the next weekend! I agree with you on 2 aspects of TE (photo and exchange between people very important also).
Besides, you return with this extraordinary sunset on the lake of Mesolonghi.
It is certainly a beautiful dream to photograph with this camera but it remains to find the centring, the magic light, and ... the bird who passes.
There is a serenity and colors which remind me certain photos of Africa.
A photo which shows that you found too some peace.

Nice image, it is so quiet and so warm here, it features a color dominant we normally see on pictures from Asia, oftem Myanmar and the lake Inle, so you managed to import this exotism to Greece, that's nice !
Hey, what camera do I see you use ??? You got the 1DsMkIII, the big beast ???
Even if it was only for a test, I think it's the first one I see in use here !

Me alegra muchisimo la decision que has tomado de quedarte con nosotros, esto es ya mas que un web de fotografias, TE es ya un grupo de amigos que debemos continuar juntos.
Tu foto es excelente, tiene unos colores del cielo con el sol fuerte que se refleja muy bien en la laguna produciendo una magnifica silueta con los botes. Felicitaciones.

Hola Hercules,
otra toma de una puesta de sol muy bien realizada y con una gran calidad cromática. Los tonos naranja están magníficos, la calidad de la imagen es muy alta, y me gustan mucho las siluetas del paisaje y de las barcas. El pájaro volando es un bonito detalle. Y sobre la cámara, qué puedo decir, que es un "juguete" inalcanzable para la mayoría de los mortales, y que sus 21 MP la convierten en algo impresionante, fuera de lo común.
Espero que disfrutes en tu nuevo trabajo, mucha suerte amigo. Ah! y me alegra muchísimo que hayas decidido continuar aquí, a pesar de tus últimos problemas con las TOS.

Vraiment merveilleux ce coucher de soleil aux superbes couleurs orangées. La composition est parfaite et les silhouttes des bateaux sont superbes avec une belle réflection. J'aime bien aussi la silhouette de la rangée d'arbres qui sépare la mer du ciel. Beau travail.

Fabulous photo with a lovely, peaceful atmosphere and wonderful warm colours in the sky, thanks to the sunset. The dark silhouettes of the boats are a great inclusion in the mirror-like water. The little bird is a good addition too.

Great one, with all those drak silhouettes against the golden, red sunset.
This photo transmits a very peaceful, relaxed feeling, well enhanced by the bird flying by above this wonderful scenario.
