Strange lights over Vonitsa Photo

Photographer’s Note

Photo of Vonitsa, taken a few minutes after sunset. Vonitsa is a town on the north of Etoloakarnania Prefecture, on the southern coast of the Ambracian Gulf. There is an imposing castle right above the town, preserved in very good condition. The small bridge that you see on the lower part of the photo, leads to the islet of Koukoumitsa.

"Vonitsa is built in the mouth of the Amvrakikos gulf. It is near the location where the ancient port Anaktorion was. Anaktorion was a Corinthian colony of the 630 BC. Its flourishing was due to the benefits the emperor Alexios Komninos I had granted to the region in the early Byzantine period.

Later, in the period of the Despotate of Epirus the region became a strategic location because of its geographical position and its important port.

Today it’s a developing tourist area with sufficient tourist infrastructure. Its castle dominates the town and offers excellent view to the region and the Amvrakikos Gulf.

Hello hercules,
this strange yet beautiful light creates a snow scene effect.The freground looks like a snowy field!You were right to compose this in such a way that the frame is full of sky.The red part of the sky is triangular in shape, always good for composition.

it really a strange light. it looks bloody red on the sky, even creates reflection on the water too. sometime when you see this unusual scene, you will know how great and powerful of the nature. should we enjoy these beautiful moments or continue fighting each other! its just a thought when i am "reading" this wonderful moment from your photo. thanks.

Hi Hercules, how strange this light is, it's so strong. The sky really seems to be on fire. I like the purple tones that contrast with the red and of course the clarity of the image in the available light. Nice control of the shutter speed. TFS and enjoy your weekend, Lisa.

Hola Hércules.
Una magnifica foto captada en la hora azul con el impresionante cielo y sus fuertes colores rojos haciendo un gran contraste con el gris de las nubes. Me gustan las siluetas de las colinas con las luces del pueblo. Muy bien captada. Tu WS es bueno pero honestamente prefiero esta.

Hello Hercules.
beautiful photo at the twilight with those "special" tones in the sky being undoubtebly the bonus factor on this already beautiful view.
The little lights of the town on background are great to iluminate a bit what would be a large area of darkness and like this has an improved interest.
It is said that the half hour after the sun sets can be the best time to take photos of land or seascapes and your photo is prooving it.

Excellent exposure for this very spectacular sky! Love the color combination and the silhouetted hills adding a sense of distance. The reflections on the left side are also a nice detail to look at!
