Hermes in disguise
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
This train may look a little decrepit, but it’s only appearance. This is the “Hermes” Intercity express IC (ICE) 51, waiting in the graffiti-rich environment of Thessaloniki station for its 5 ½ hour run to Athens. It’s operated by the OSE (Organismos Sidirodromon Eilados – literally: Greek Iron road Organisation), the Greek national train operator. This diesel-hydraulic train set is very comfortable – and it’s interior impeccable maintained. The other end of this train set was spotless but much less photogenic ;-). The “Hermes” took us to Larissa for a connecting train to Volos on the Pilion peninsula.
Pic 28 mm. PS-E2 tech: cropped, some parts desaturated, master saturation boosted, selected parts fillflashed, sharpened (first the whole pic, then selected parts), frame-layer added and saved for the web. |

Blijkbaar is het niet bij ons alleen met de graffiti, spijtig dat deze mensen hun talenten niet gebruiken op de juiste plaats.
Goed in beeld gebracht Bert, met een hartig woordje uitleg. Verder doen en bedankt.
Nice view. Good colors and details. The Hermes wings on the front seem faded and old like the train, with all its graffiti and dirt seems aged. This Hermes appears that it has been forced into service too many times. But you say it's just appearance but a really strong one that really portrays age and use. Nicely photographed.

Good photo, good post processing and an informative note too. It was interesting to read that the interior is comfortable and well maintained, when the exterior looks so run down. Nice.
Hola Bert
Interesante el transporte ferroviario en Grecia. El pov está bueno pero lo que más me sorprende es el estado de los trenes.
Saludos
