Hi all,
Today another post about a place I recently visited. I have not seen any pictures here in TE so I thought I'd post some. The place is called Polilimnio and is located about 1 km from Charavgi village on Messinia prefecture.

In the municipality of Voufrada, 32 kilometers away from Kalamata there is the canyon of Polilimnio with its lakes and waterfalls. Crossing a small path for 5 minutes and passing through dense vegetation and picturesque wooden bridges you will find a secret paradise made of small lakes and waterfalls, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. 15 lakes with different strange names such as Mavrolimna, Kadi, Kadoula, Lucky’s, Italian’s, Panagos’s, Stathoula’s, well hidden for many years, have become known to the public only recently and opened to visits of nature’s friends.

In the summer they are many who prefer the cool waters of the lakes of Polilimnio to swim, as for example in Lake Kadoula, which was named because it resembles a pot, "κάδος" in Greek. The waterfall offers a unique experience to whoever comes, while the bravest ones get themselves to impressive dives from the surrounding rocks in the lake’s deep waters.

Small canyons, dense vegetation and gorgeous waterfalls will turn a hike of medium difficulty 3 kilometers long into a unique and unforgettable experience. The canyon’s water that come from Mesopotamos, after crossing the bridge of Tzane, flows into the lap of the Messinian Bay. If someone follows the canyon downwards he will reach a cave of beautiful butterflies.

It is very easy to find Polilimnio, following the road from Kalamata to Pylos. Near the village Kazarma there is the village Charavgi, from where the path to Polilimnio begins (there is a sign leading to Polilimnio on the main road).

Useful tips:
Do not go in mid-day, take water with you, wear light hiking shoes, prepare for stone walks and high climbing at Kadoula waterfall.

This is Panago's Lake which according to the information tablet: "Panagos Grammatikopoulos was drawn in this lake as he was trying to cross it over through a familiar to him water-splash". Of course he was drown!

Thanks for visiting
Nick

Hi Nick,

Excellent composition and nice, deeply saturated colors. I like the effect of the 2 second shutter speed. It is always nice when you can keep the white portions of the cascades completely inside the frame as well.

Cheers!

Bob G.

Quite nice view...

BRAVO!

Like your previous shot from here this is another winner, with the well saturated colours and the slow shutter. As well as smoothing the cascade, the pool surface looks like satin. Well done

Beautiful picture, Nick! I like the framing and the colours are beautiful. The silk effect is also well done. You just miss a wonderful girl bathing under that waterfalls... maybe next time, ok?

Hi Nick
Lovely capture of the place with a long exposure. Great effect and nice colours.
Regards

Olá Nick, you are a true artist of these romantic environments. I guess that the other shot is more successful, but some how I feel attracted to this simpler one. It's impressive the beautiful soft effect on the lake with only two seconds, but I don't know nothing about this kind of photography. The one in the background seems too withish, but I still like the abstract effect very much. The quality of the image is superb.
