Photographer's Note

This picture show an important intersection in Budapest from a square where the National Theatre stood before it was demolished during the construction of the 2nd Metro line. Here two main arteries meet, the Grand Boulevard and the Rákóczi Avenue. In my youth this was the heart of the city, with important entertainments and shopping area near by, even a popular song referred to it as the place to meet. I took this picture primarily to show how Budapest was preparing with huge posters for the the 60th anniversary of the 1956 revolution. A kid with a gun would not be my choice to recall this important event, but the media experts know better how to do it.
This is my last post from my June visit to Budapest, and with it I wish a happy holiday season and successful new year to all visitors of my gallery.
