Photographer's Note

The Kaldidalur (F550) is Icelands western most, shortest and most accessible interior route. In fair weather (for icelandic standards) it's even managable by a normal car. Still it gives a good idea of the vast and lonely interior of Iceland ice cap.

On the 60 kilometers from Þingvellir (the "Rütli" of Iceland) to Húsafell the road crosses a desolate desert of grey stones, grit and sand. If weather permits there are also close-up views of the glacier Langjökull and some of its minor neighbours, with 950 square kilometers Icelands 2nd largest.
