A bit of color today and a bit of experimentation...
The water of this river is incredibly clear and clean and it is allowed to drink from it...magical.

In the end it's all about wishing for a better world, where rivers don't run dry and dirty...

There is a workshop with a large view of the place and a map of the surroundings. Some of the areas are only accessible with 4x4 wheels.

I went as close as I could to the water and took a shot. Some neatimage, a bit of contrast,that's it. I would have liked to post without all the explanations, for once, but here they are: :-)

The Book of Settlements explains the denomination of the river: " A man named Thorarinn, the son of Thorkell from Alvidra, the son of Hallbjorn Hordukappi, sailed into the estuaries of Thjorsa and did not remove the carved bull's head from the prow of his ship". The river Thjorsa is the longest and the second most voluminous river of the country (364 m³/sec.). It is 230 km (139 miles) long.
The source of that river is situated a mere 70 km (42 miles) south of the end of the Eyjafiord bay in the North. The main course of the river is towards southwest, following the main tectonic fissure system of the country. The river sometimes, but rarely, almost disappears for a while in the lower regions of its course, when the winter ice breaks up and creates natural dams.
A few waterfalls decorate the river on its way to the ocean. The glacial rivers of Iceland always were great obstacles for travellers, who had to use the ferries or ford them. There were several ferry points and the nearest farms to them were obliged to serve the travellers against payment.
Controversy is building up over a proposal to erect a set of three hydroelectric power plants and their associated dams in the lower Thjorsa river in South Iceland.

Hello Michelle..you are "back again" :D..and its the league of the thousands..congrats again !

More than the shallow river bed..the overall effect seems abstract..think that should have been the underlying theme..and the literal aspect could have been an added inclusion..the colours and the textures have turned very well..The shimmering light on the emerald water within the forsted troughs are simply amazing..good work..drink the water..kidding right ??

Hello MichEle,
A very clear image showing us the pathway across the green into the frozen abyss. The landscape in the workshop is a beautiful image of the landscape. I love the lush rolling hills and basalt tufts.

Now drinking water straight from a river is not something you can do at home - well at least not here I would think.
Michele, this looks like nature made an abstract painting just to please you (and us by sharing) - indeed even without a note it would be wonderful - still glad you included the how and why from this picture.
Seems like you lost your heart a bit in Iceland (I can easily see how that happens.)

You have captured a unique image here. The water has a texture to it and the colours are superb.

Hello Michele,
Beautiful turquoise and green colors to the sureal presentation of this prestine river. Very lively textures created by the white water moving swiftly over the green rocks.

Hi Michele,
In the beginning it was a bit difficult to figure out what this one really maent.!!But having got my acts right, I'm delighted. You've almost done the job of a pro from Nat Geo!!!This is distincly beautiful. You havent mentioned about the sharpening in your note, but I find it to be a little oversharpened(only a bit!!!). However, its a beauty Michele, not only for the colors(a rare color from you nowadays) but also for the clarity.

Hej Michele,
A very speciall photo that tease your imagination. First it looked like it was taken from under water but then I saw the dropps from the splash.
Good colours indeed and thoose small rivers use to have wonderful drinking water. We do have them in northern Sweden as well.

What an interesting, almost abstract photo. Aside from it being your honeymoon, I can see how the place itself captured your heart.
Relatively environmentally clean energy vs lost natural rivers and wetlands is a real conflict.
