The Lonely Planet guide for Ireland says about Dunloe Gap "In high summer the Gap is tourism at its full-blown worst......You could also walk through the gap but it's not much fun in summer if you want to be alone."
In mid June we set off early and had it alone with just a handful of other walkers and 1 horse and trap. It was extremely scenic and very quiet. Around the actual pass was this pretty lake backed by the arched bridge, the green pasture with a few sheep. What more could you ask for?
