White sand beach in Mannin Bay near Ballyconneely, with the mountains of Connemara (12 Bens) in the distance. The tallest Ben is Benbaun(728m.) About Ballyconneely:

No visit to Connemara or the West of Ireland would be complete without a visit to Ballyconneely . This peninsula, jutting into the Atlantic between Clifden to the north and Roundstone to the south, contains some of the most tranquil, unspoilt and interesting countryside to be found anywhere in the country. Its name translates from the Irish as Conneelys Village, and is based on the old civil parish of Ballindoon which in turn was named from the old fort or cashel on Doon Hill built by the McGeogegan family to celebrate the restoration of free trade in the late eighteenth century.
The peninsula is virtually ringed by beaches - from the Coral Strand at Derrygimla, west and north to Knock, Mannin, Dunloughan and Truska, and east and south from Keeraunmore, Aillebrack, and Ballyconneely Bay to Calla, Dolan and Murvey. As well as being ideal for bathing, some of those beaches provide excellent bases for shore fishermen.
Ballyconneely has been to the foreront in many historic projects and events. As early as 1854 the first Salmon farming operation in either Britain or Ireland was carried out on the Dohulla Fishery. More famously, on Sunday June 14th 1919, the first transatlantic flight ended in the Derrygimla Bog, about two miles from Ballyconneely Village. Capt. John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown had flown their twin-engined Vickers Vimy plane from Newfoundland, Canada, in just over sixteen hours. They landed virtually within yards of the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Station, set up by Guiglielmo Marconi, the Italian pioneer of wireless telegraphy in 1905, and from where the first transatlantic wireless message was sent to Cape Breton in Nova Scotia in 1907.
Ballyconneely is also renowned for its breeding of the world famous Connemara Pony, with numerous home and overseas champions being produced here. Legend has it that the breed originated as a result of a number of Arab Horses coming ashore from a Spanish shipwreck, near Slyne Head, and breeding with the small native pony. An annual show and sale is held in the village on the 3rd Sunday in July.

Fantastically beautiful shot Tan.. The picture has a crispness that makes you want to jump in and the sky is so beautifully defined. And what a job you did on the framing with the mountains in the background.. Great stuff

I had to read your geographical information over and over again -- this looks more like a tropical island than Ireland. I had no idea that areas of Ireland looked like this. The water is so calm and crystal clear and I like how it occupies a lot of space in your photo. The color gradients of the water as it nears the horizon are gorgeous.

A very nice and different picture from Ireland, the so-called green island. I would say that I was seeing a tropical sea-coast. Congratulations ..

i wasnt sure which tropical island this was on at first glance, ireland definatly didnt enter my mind! but it is ireland and its a beautiful shot, just makes you want to go out and paddle in the water!

Hi Tan,
Wonderful landscape! Very nice colors. Greetings
Leonor

This shot is simply fantastic. It shows one of the many aspects of Irish coasts and this one is totally unusual. Congratulation for the quality of the composition and for the light and contrats management. Very interesting explicative note too. Thanks for sharing, Tan !

Irland? It looks like Bahamas or Bermudas or something like this. Again, an amazing image. You are the landscape master!

No Tan, that's not Ireland, I don't believe you ! ;-)
Fantastic landscape, I like your composition with the big part of clear water.
Colors are vey nice, well done

Again a nice one of you, I like the ripple effect very much.

Lovely composition. I like the perspective here, how the water leads to the 'mountains'... I have to agree that it's hard to believe that it's Ireland... Bala

Hi Tan
What a lovely place. And a lot of space there without any people. Great shot; good compo and colours. Well done, greetings Albrecht

Hello Tan,
This is my second critique to your work today, but for me is a must to share words and your work. Great and useful guidelines and something special to us. A low base perspective and enquadrement with a nice natrure scenery in a water fluid and clear water with the mountains in a background distant approach. Excelent colors, sensibility, creativity and a must!

Best to you and my congratulations.
Fernando

Hi Tan...
Great! So I see you managed to get a little blue sky in my wet "adoptive" country...;o) I am joking...I am actually quite pleased with the climate..it does not rain far as much as people use to pretend. And there are many beaches like this one in Ireland when the sun comes out! The only dicisive distinction from the Carribean is defo the temperature...I managed to stay in there for 30sec in order to take a pic, last time I swam in Kerry....lol Thanks for helping me to promote Ireland.. ;o) Cheers, Léonie

Bonjour Tan,
avec une ressemblance avec les mers du sud, cette photo est surprenante, exite-t-il de pareils coins en Irlande ?
Un petit paradis.
D'esxquises couleurs dans un cadrage bien calculé, bonnes POV et DOV.
Well seen and done.
Daniel.

Very nice wide angle shot, the colors are beautiful and this water so clear. The picture is very well composed with the mountains on the top.
Well done
Luan

Hi Tan,
A nice and clear water that sounds like a superb holiday invitation but we can guess from the small waves it must be windy and cold. Water colors are excellent !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Tan,
I really thought you'd been on a tropical island but it turned out to be Ireland. This is a great landscape, I like the clear water, very well done! :-D

This certainly inspires one to visit Ireland. Such a South Seal island type beach. You have nicely given much scope to this rippled, clear water sandy beach and great DOF as well. The rich colours in the background enhance and contrast nicely with the foreground. A most satisfying shot. Well done, Tan.

Huge in this way.....
Nice composed, nice angle, wonderful landscape, I have to visit Ireland, I've seen some great pics form several memebers and this one is really nice too !

Hi Tan. Wow. This is really great, the transparent greenish water and the mountains in the background. Well done. Cheers, Michael

Tan, this could be Fiji or Australia or anywhere else tropical that I've seen! The composition really makes a special image as it does look like somewhere totally different & I wouldn't have guessed it was Connemara if I'd simply been shown the photo.

The wide angle used really makes an interesting image & the colours are great.
