Photographer's Note

The Flavian Amphitheater, aka the Colosseum, is easily one of the most photographed sites in Rome. Even so, there were probably only four or so people here at the time of the 06:00 am sunrise. Italians, and tourists, I learned, are not early risers in Rome - if I can generalize. I took this shot with a tripod and minimized the aperture to get a starburst. The light was quite harsh as soon as the sun rose and a cloudless sky did not help the shot, but all in all, I was happy just to have a shot not filled with the crowds that ensued just a few hours later.
