Man's works can be a wonder to behold. To transform a block of stone into a mass of tissue, skin, veins,muscle...To capture what is beneath the skin and to hint at life itself through an impression of movement, poise, rest! What eye, heart, hand, understanding. Yet it is also Man that can close his eyes, heart and understanding and command his hands to commit the most cruel and destructive deeds.What a paradox we are.
No tripod, slight movement- but i decided to post the image after sharpening it and increasing contrast in order to show you this truncated but powerful work.

Hello Klaudio,

I am happy to be one of the first to view this spectacular detail shot. The note is engaging, as always. Michelangelo, of course, saw the statue in the block of stone simply as something to be liberated, it was already there. When you look at this powerful back, possibly a depiction of Hercules, you can see how Michelangelo and some of his cohorts could have harbored that sentiment.

The metaphorical value of this shot is great. Man, the Creator of what satisfies the five senses of other men, exalted into glory, yet the glory itself is an illusion. beautiful light and capture.
